Avengers 4 : Gwyneth Paltrow teases a time jump4 min read
I may be speaking just for myself , but Pepper Potts and Tony Stark has a beautiful relationship in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sure it was could be more fleshed out , but the journey since Iron Man till now of the couple has been incredible and the chemistry between them is truly heart-whelming. Tony Stark is a genius but a man of privilege. We generally don’t expect him to understand the intricacies of super-heroism and its responsibilities like Captain America , Spider-man , Superman or Batman.
But if you have noticed carefully , Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man is not at all the same as his comic book counterpart. And Robert himself admitted that. But that instead of imposing limitations brought new dimensions into the character. The character has grown so much since Iron Man , and at the end of Avengers : Infinity War , we see him at the very low a superhero can expect himself to. His fear came true , Peter whom he came to love so much is gone and not to mention the heartache that Civil War gave him. In a nutshell , Pepper is the only piece of solace he has still left there , provided she is not gone as well.
But here is a weird piece of info that can open doors to new speculations. Remember the opening scene where Tony Stark was first introduced and he was consistent about a dream where the couple had a baby. Looks like every dream of this man comes true – this one though , I am glad it did. In a recent interview , Gwyeth Paltrow , who plays Pepper Potts in the MCU opened up about the relationship her character has with Tony Stark . “Pepper and Tony have had a real long journey together,” Paltrow stated to Comicbook.com. “She obviously starts as his dutiful assistant, and then the relationship evolves, and now this decade later they’re married, and they have a child. Their relationship has evolved in all of the ways that great romances evolve.“
While there are a lot of possibilities and you are welcome to discuss that in the comments and/or in our forums ; let me break down the most important conclusion this thing indicates in the upcoming untitled Avengers 4. It means the universe has accepted whatever Thanos has punished them with and it has moved on. We might be looking at a time jump straight away with characters now learning to live without the friends they lost.
But here is the crazy thing over here : If you are an ardent fan , you might have been noticing Tony Stark in almost every Avengers 4 set photo wearing a uniform with a SHIELD logo. What if in the absence of Nick Fury , Tony Stark goes back in time to assemble the team and inform them in a whole new way such that the events of Avengers : Infinity War never happens ? Pretty wild and far fetched huh ? But that could change the MCU as we know of , as promised to us. Plus , that would be the perfect send-off for Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark (the one who started it all) in the absence of a fourth standalone.Just let the thought sustain in your brain for a while and let me know what you feel about it.
