DC developing live-action METROPOLIS TV series2 min read
DC is reportedly working on a Superman prequel series based on the world of Metropolis
We have previously heard about DC working on titles that they are attempting to launch with their streaming service. That includes the live action Titans , Young Justice and a probable Harley Quinn animated series. Now it seems , a Superman prequel will be joining the set of shows about to debut in the service.
Gotham executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon are writing the story and are executive Directors for the show. The show is set to revolve around Lois Lane and Lex Luthor before the coming of Superman. Prequels can be fruatating at times , Gotham serves as a prime example. However , if used correctly , it can produce some memorable moments from the lore even without the main hero. And judging by the logline , it doesn’t seem we are going to see much of Clark Kent.
The logline says the show will follow “Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets.” So maybe , we would be looking forward to a aspiring Daily Planet reporter and a Lex Luthor breaking bad. Quite interesting of an arc but can work wonderfully if it carries a story , completely based on its own. After all we have long and twisted storylines between Lex and Lane throughout the years , to even the two being a couple in some what-ifs.
A Superman prequel is about to get a release this year which has Kal-El’s Grandpa as the focal point. It will also experiment with time travel. How can another Superman prequel fit into all this is still to be seen , but there’s a possibility DC is building towards a seperate universe with its digital service.
DC has already ordered a series stretching over 13 episodes to its streaming service , launching next year. Here is the first key art from the show :
