DC unveils brand new details about it’s one of a kind DC Universe streaming service4 min read
Streaming services are the next big thing in Hollywood. Almost all the big names are joining this race and comicbook companies are no execption. Enter DC Universe, DC’s new streaming service complete with comics, films, and TV together in one place, which is a pretty intriguing offer for a comic-book fan.
As announced via press release it is the “first-of-its-kind digital subscription service” with the double dose of DC Comics films and digital copies of DC Comics. The press release also says “fans will enjoy all-new original live-action and animated series, classic TV series and films, a curated selection of digital comic books, breaking news, an expansive DC-centric encyclopedia, and access to exclusive merchandise.”
Below is a video announcing all the new shows including Titans, Harley Quinn, Young Justice: Outsiders, Doom Patrol, Swamp-Thing.
TITANS- It has been confirmed that Titans would debut on the platform later this year, the new synopsis reveals that it will follow, “young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.”
Along with that synopsis comes a sweet little image from the series featuring Brenton Thwaites’s Robin.
Harley Quinn- While we did not get any looks into the world of Harley we certainly got to know a lot more about the ex-girlfriend of a certain ‘Mistah J’. Here is the official synopsis “Harley Quinn follows Harley’s adventures after she breaks up with the Joker and strikes out on her own in this new adult animated comedy. With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.”
Young Justice- All the prayers of the DC fans have been answered who wanted this show back but the usual roster of heroes are not present in this incarnation. The roster has been revealed as including Blue Beetle, Kid-Flash, Thirteen, Artemis, Spoiler, Robin, Wonder Girl, and Static Shop. You can see all of them in the new image below.
Along with the upper mentioned and considerably well known heroes and villains we will also see some of the mostunknown and strangest roster of heroes and villains next year with Doom Patrol, “a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts,” and Swamp Thing, about “Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets.”
No pricing details were made available so far. The beta version for DC Universe will begin in August 2018; you can sign up for it at DCUniverse.com.
