The upcoming Disney streaming service now officially has a name : Disney+. The name was confirmed by Bob Iger , Chairman and CEO at the The Walt Disney Company. The house of mouse saw a revenue of $24.5 billion from its media sector this fiscal year and is looking forward to push into the streaming section with the new service. After the acquisition of the 20th Century FOX , Disney has more than ever content to decorate and kick start its streaming service.
We already know that Disney was concentrating on supporting characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have their own presence on their streaming platform , under the supervision of Marvel Studios. Now its all but confirmed that Tom Hiddleston is infact featuring in a live action Disney Original Loki series. Though we have still to know anything more about it , considering the service doesn’t hit till late 2019 ; this feels a great start.
The streaming service , kept as a high value priority for 2019 , is expected to serve as a curated library of high profile properties from Pixar , Star Wars , Marvel and the exclusive properties it acquired from 20th Century FOX. Maybe a X-Men spin-off series can appear earlier than in the movies , who knows ? The possibility is endless for the new Disney+. As for now , Loki’s series is confirmed while Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlett Witch and the Falcon-Winter Soldier limited series is yet to be confirmed.
