The DOCTOR DOOM Solo Movie is still happening following Fox/Disney Deal3 min read
Fans , after the Disney/FOX deal are assuming all the previously taken decisions by FOX to undergo some amount of change . While that is true to an extent , Noah Hawley says his project is still in the works.
At last year’s Comic-Con, Noah Hawley revealed that he was working on a Doctor Doom solo movie. Since the project has never came into limelight since then , the fan community has assumed it to never see the light. The reason being quite obvious : The Disney/FOX deal. When one of the most powerful media mergers of all time was made , many were happy but some were sad. The sadness initiating from the thought of recasting everyone 20th Century FOX had cast. While Disney CEO himself confirmed about Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool can stay within the Disney umbrella , the other characters and projects are untold of at this point of time.
This led to the fan community to believe they will never make it to production. One among many being Noah Hawley’s solo Doctor Doom project. Doctor Doom is not only one of the most powerful Marvel villain but he is one of the complex comic book character out there – the depths of which FOX never explored. While some fans are caught in mixed feelings for the movie , the Legion show-runner has came out to say the project is still under works.
I haven’t had a single conversation yet about Doom in the context of the merger. On some level, we’re still looking at a period of time – probably a year, at the least – for this whole thing to go through. Who knows, corporately, what conversations will be had, but certainly, until it goes through, it’s not a legal thing. I don’t know. I’ve been waiting for the phone to ring to see if anyone is gonna have an opinion. Otherwise, it’s just business as usual for me.
While it’s another 12-18 months before Disney can fully take control of the FOX properties , projects like this are solely dependent on how Disney seems it fit. While The New Mutants and X-Men : The Dark Phoenix are confirmed to get a theatrical release , their sequels as well as the X-Force and the Multiple Man are in uncertain territories. Hawley’s project could stand out as an exception , acting as an introduction of the iconic villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let us know what are you expecting of the project ? Would you like to see Victor Doom getting integrated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, introduced first with this project ? Let me know in the comments section below.
