Margot Robbie to [possibly] voice Harley Quinn in upcoming animated series3 min read
Margot Robbie was one of the most awesome and fan favorite characters to come out of the critically bashed ‘Suicide Squad”. She was so well received that it didn’t take long for Warner Brothers to announce a spin-off of the character featuring Robbie. And now Harley Quinn fans have a new thing to party over.
Harley Quinn is a character made by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm during the Batman : The Animated Series and later introduced in the Batman lore through The Batman Adventures #12 (September 1993). Harley Quinn is the frequent accomplice and lover of the Joker, whom she met while working as a psychologist at Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum, where the Joker was a patient. The most beautiful thing about the character is that she couldn’t realize when her sympathy towards the clown turned into love and when the love turned into an extreme case of Stockholm syndrome. Something which the motion picture Suicide Squad failed to show the general movie-goers. However , fan popularity demanded the character to get her own movie alongside some other allies in the upcoming DC Film Gotham City Sirens , based on her team-up with fellow villains Catwoman and Poison Ivy.
However , now it’s being reported that the character will be getting her own animated TV series ‘Harley Quinn’. Warner Brother’s upcoming DC-Branded direct-to-consumer digital platform has ordered 26 episodes of half-hour adult animated action-comedy series Harley Quinn. The show is going to be run by Powerless executive producers Justin Halpern , Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey via Warner Bros. Animation.
The show Harley Quinn, focuses on Harley Quinn, who finally has broken things off with the Joker once and for all and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City. The project is still in the works, so the featured image above is development art, and the series’ eventual look might differ from it. Deadline reports that “Robbie is at the top of Warner Bros.’ wish list for actresses to voice the title character in the animated series, and she is expected to be approached for the gig”.
Harley Quinn will be the third series to be green lighted for the new DC digital platform — operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group alongside live-action Titans and the anticipated revival of cult animated series Young Justice.
