The MCU breaks another record in domestic markets2 min read
The Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU is one of a kind. Not only for the movies it produces but the checkpoints it had been breaking over the years. Now it should not be a matter of surprise at all that it had crossed another checkpoint in financial terms with the release of Thor : Ragnarok.
Its now the trend of MCU to break a new record every time an installment is released and the funny fact is I am not even exaggerating. With a good conduct of 10 years , I think any franchise can hope to do that. And so , with the recent release of Thor : Ragnarok the MCU had to break some new records. With the third Thor movie now tearing down the box -office , the Marvel Cinematic Universe now sits tall on 5 billion dollars in domestic soil. And it is the first ever cinematic franchise to do that . That is one big achievement for any franchise in this world but then again we are 17 movies deep. Here is a statistical proof of the same from Box Office Mojo. The concerned total domestic gross is highlighted.
Thor : Ragnarok had a 121 million $ domestic opening which when combined with a 306 million $ foreign gross leads up to a domestic | foreign percentage of 28.3% | 71.7 %. That provides a current global haul of 427 million $ against a budget of 180 million $ (advertisement exclusive).
We are not even talking about the future aspects as it seems uncomprehending at the moment with the current MCU movies in slate. We would just like to take a moment to wish that the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to attain greater heights and entertain us for eternity.
