X-Men Dark Phoenix:Everything that we know so far.5 min read
X-Men Dark Phoenix is the movie to look forward to X-Men fans as Phoenix is one of the strongest entity in the Marvel universe and the Dark Phoenix is one of the most intriguing Marvel lore of all time. The movie is a reattempt on what X-Men : The Last Stand tried to attempt but in a different approach and time. Check out below for what we know about the flick so far.
All throughout last week via Entertainment weekly’s latest issue we got our first look, synopsis, photos and a lot of new details about next year’s X-Men:Dark Phoenix.Lets delve into them one by one.
First off here is the cover of Entertainment Weekly which reveals our first look of the Phoenix. Here is a close up of the Phoenix Force :
Sophie Turner says that she studied multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia in order to better prepare to portray both sides of Jean’s personality once the Phoenix manifests itself.
“So many scenes I have to go from broken-down Jean — that’s when she’s most susceptible to Phoenix infiltrating her — to this confident, arrogant, judgmental character within milliseconds.“
Now apart from Jean Grey we also got our first look of Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique who returns with a new look and a maternal attitude apparently.
“She’s grown up a lot,” says Lawrence. “She’s more maternal which surprised me. She starts to get more protective of the [school] children and Charles wants to push them to prove to the world that mutants can be good for humanity and I just see them as small children.”
Yeah, that happened.Next up we have our main villain of the piece played by Jessica Chastain.
Though she hasn’t been named yet, it’s now all-but confirmed that Jessica Chastain will be playing The Skrull Queen (or at least, a variation on her), and the character is described as “Quiet but brutal.”
“Simon and I were talking about the character and I said, ‘I keep thinking of the vet who tells you you need to put your dog down,'” says the Molly’s Game actress of her inspiration. “There’s something very clinical about it.”
As we already know, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will send the team into space for the first time, and this concept art depicts the moment their ship is hit with a solar flare which ignites the Phoenix Force within Jean Grey.As you can see in the pic below Jean is shown floating in midst of the debris.
Director Simon Kinberg told the mag “Jean absorbs those solar flares and then hurls them back out into space. That’s what triggers, awakens, creates this Phoenix force and voice inside her. What appears to the world to be another heroic victory by the X-Men in saving stranded people in space we realize is the the thing that begins the unraveling of Jean and the unraveling of secrets Charles told her.” That is very reminiscent of the comics.
Next up is Professor X and company mourning someone’s death in this intriguing pic.
Who could it be? Some major cast member or someone not so important. Not to forget that picture of injured Eric which led to the rumor of his death.
Oh ! and by the way this movie is going to feature the legendary nation of ‘Genosha’. EW also gave us the most detailed plot synopsis of the movie so far:
“Set in 1992, about 10 years after the “Jean absorbs those solar flares and then hurls them back out into space. That’s what triggers, awakens, creates this Phoenix force and voice inside her. What appears to the world to be another heroic victory by the X-Men in saving stranded people in space we realize is the the thing that begins the unraveling of Jean and the unraveling of secrets Charles told her.”events of last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix opens with the X-Men, including Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), and Quicksilver (Evan Peters), in a new, unexpected role: national heroes. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) even lands on the cover of Time magazine. But his growing ego puts the team at risk. “Pride is starting to get the better of him, and he is pushing the X-Men to more extreme missions,” Kinberg says. After they’re dispatched to space for a rescue mission, a solar flare hits the X-Jet and the surge of energy ignites a malevolent, power-hungry new force within Jean (Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner)— the Phoenix.”
X-Men:Dark Phoenix will blaze into theaters November 2, 2018 (In IMAX for the first time).
